George knew from an early age that he enjoyed interacting with customers and also liked working with numbers. His first job at age 9 was delivering his hometown newspaper, The Newport Daily News, which taught him that if you provided good customer service success would follow, and to this day, he’s carried that mission throughout his career.
George forwent the traditional college route, moving to Boston out of high school, and began his career as an account executive in the consumer finance business. This led him into mortgage banking field, and in 1988 George accepted a position with Travelers Mortgage back in Rhode Island. In 1991, George relocated to Bergen County NJ, a suburb of New York City, and quickly established himself as one of the leading mortgage bankers at Lancaster Financial and Summit Bank.
While in New Jersey, George met his wife Terry, an RI native, and chased her back to Newport, RI in 1988. Soon thereafter, he founded Landmark Mortgage, a southern New England mortgage broker located on the east side of Providence. He rejoined his friends and business associates from New Jersey in 2011 and now oversees loan production for Atlantic Home Loans in the Rhode Island and Southeastern MA markets.
George has assisted thousands of clients from Boston to New Jersey over the past 25 years and has been a leader and a top producer for some of the industry’s leading companies. He’s a member of The Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association, East Bay and Newport Chamber Commerce, and original and active member at Newport National Golf Club.
He’s an avid golfer and enjoys fishing and hiking with his wife Terry, and son, Aidan. While George gained extensive experience working with high-end clients in the New York area, working with entry-level clients have provided him with the most rewarding experience throughout his career.
